42’s program is based on the principles of gamification, learning-to-learn, and peer-learning. Participants learn together and help each other – failures are opportunities for growth.

OBJECTIVES

Learning at 42 means looking for concrete solutions to the problems encountered, rather than having to memorise lessons without any practical application. From your first steps at 42 – the Swimming Pool – you will have to work independently in front of a computer.

STEP 1: ONLINE GAMES

The first step to accessing 42 is to register on our website and play a series of online games. These games are based on logic and last about two hours. We advise you to do them independently, as self-study and independent thinking are one of the key ingredients for successful training 42.

If you succeed, we will invite you to the check-in, an information meeting usually held in person in Belval, to get to know philosophy and pedagogy 42 a little more closely.

STEP 2: CHECK-IN

During the check-in, you will learn more about the programme, meet the staff and other potential learners and have the opportunity to ask all your previous questions.

STEP 3: SWIMMING POOL

La Piscine is the final stage of the admission process. This is in principle a trial period to let you know our curriculum and pedagogical model in practice and thus test your compatibility. You will emerge from coding and learn how to get out of it by collaborating. La Piscine introduces you to the fundamentals of programming with the C language such as coding subroutines, variables, loops, conditions and memory management. To succeed in this stage, you must attend full-time.

STEP 4: Let’s go!

After evaluating the results of the Pool, you will be contacted by email and invited to start the course if you have succeeded. Once confirmed, the date of return will be communicated to you in this email, but also on this site and on our social networks.

CONTENT

PART 1: THE COMMON TRONC

The first part of programme 42 is the core curriculum – where you will learn the fundamentals of software engineering: C programming, algorithms and software development, file systems, UNIX, system administration and network architecture. Although everyone progresses at their own pace, it takes an average of about 12 to 18 months to complete it.

After passing the common core, you have two options: you can choose to complete the training and receive your certificate 42, attesting to the level you have reached, or you can choose to continue developing your skills in the second part, the specialization.

PART 2: SPECIALIZATION

The second part is about specialization, where you can decide which direction you want to take: areas such as, inter alia, AI, mobile or web development, cybersecurity or a combination of these are available to you. Brand, technology and programming language neutrality is emphasized in order to remain adaptive to the needs of the future. This part includes more than 100 projects to be carried out in groups as well as voluntary traineeships and entrepreneurship programmes. Each learner can decide on his/her own when he/she is ready to take the next step to start his/her career and become an alumni.

TARGET GROUP

42 Luxembourg is open to everyone, regardless of your background, diplomas or gender. The only prerequisite we are interested in is that you are an adult.
