The objective of this course is to introduce participants to the fundamentals of process control, focusing on the PID controller and its application in industrial settings. By the end of the course, students will understand the principles behind process control, be able to analyze and tune PID controllers, and explore advanced configurations and techniques such as anti-wind-up and reference tracking. Through practical case studies, students will gain hands-on experience in selecting and tuning controllers to meet specific process control objectives.
Learning outcomes
Upon the completion of the course, the participant will
- Acquire the basics of basic control in industry and its possible applications,
- Become familiar with one of the most common regulators in the process industry, the PID regulator, understanding each of the parameters of this regulator and the effect of its modification on the control of the process
- Know some of the possible architectures and implementations of a PID controller,
- Learn different techniques for tuning a PID controller,
