Founded in 1980, the University of Nicosia offers a variety of educational programmes on bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level, accredited by the Republic of Cyprus, and recognised in the EU and globally. It also has campuses in New York, Athens, and Bucharest.
The University of Nicosia is the largest university in Cyprus and the largest educational institution in Southern Europe when it comes to the provision of English-speaking programmes. The university offers more than 100 formal education programmes on campus, as well as courses, combining a blended or distance-learning approach. The University of Nicosia has several faculties: School of Business, School of Education, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Law, Medical School and the School of Sciences and Engineering.
Since 2014, UNIC has been offering also a master’s programme in Digital Currency, and became the first educational institution to accept Bitcoin (a well-known cryptocurrency) as payment for tuition fees. The university is active in supporting the development, deployment and uptake of emerging and new technologies through the Institute for the Future (IFF),an interdisciplinary research centre working to contribute to technologies’ successful application in industry, education, and the public sectors.
