Ministry of Digital Governance is the competent authority for the digital transformation of the Greek economy. The Ministry encourages the security of telecommunications and digital information. Also, it supports research and development in the field of digital technologies, promoting cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, high-performance computing and cloud computing. The institution aims to bring together, for the first time, all the critical IT and telecommunications structures related to the provision of electronic services to citizens and the wider digital transformation of the country.

One of the main objectives of the MoDG is to plan and implement public policies to promote the digital competences of citizens, without discrimination of age, gender, society and education. All kinds of initiatives that the MoDG launches are aimed at citizens, entrepreneurs, employees, ICT experts, etc. Its unified structure at the operational level comes to correct the fragmentation of units and systems that affects the quality and cost of services provided. The continuous and uninterrupted cooperation between ministries and agencies as the purpose of this Ministry is precisely the interoperability at all levels.

The General Secretariat of Digital Governance and Simplification of Procedures is a fundamental part of the Ministry of Digital Governance and is responsible for the organisation and functioning of the Greek National Coalition at national, European and international level.
