Centre for Higher Education (CHE) is a German organization dedicated to higher education reform in Germany and at the European level. Founded in 1994 by the Bertelsmann Stiftung and the German Rectors’ Conference as a non-profit limited liability company, it is best known to the public for its published university rankings. CHE is an independent and implementation orientated think tank with an international perspective. 

CHE’s engagement seeks to ensure that higher education institutions (HEIs) are able to cope with growing student numbers and with the increasing diversity of their students.
