ABC Digital is an online training program implemented by Riga TechGirls (RTG) with the support of Google. The programme aims to improve the digital skills of employees of European non-governmental organisations.
Data from the Digital Economy and SocietyIndex (DESI) shows that only 56 % of Europeans have basic digital skills, such as information and data management skills, communication and collaboration skills, digital content creation and security and problem-solving skills. The ABC DigitalTraining Curriculumspecifically focuses on promoting the digital skills of staff of non-governmental organisations.
TheRTG initiative is the first of its kind available internationally. Previous RTG programmes were developed for education professionals, creators and health professionals and visited more than 22000 participants.
“As we work within a non-governmental organisation, we are fully aware of the challenges of day-to-day work and how digital skills and tools can help overcome them. They can make teamwork more efficient, facilitate cooperation between partners and target audiences, and save the most important resources – time. Therefore, we are grateful for the trust that Google.org offers in creating the digital ABC program for non-governmental organisations and offering the opportunity to come to the international stage! – Pauls Siliš, co-creator of Riga TechGirls
The program will take place online in English. The focus will be on the skills that non-governmental organisations need most in their daily work. The programme comprises a series of master classes divided into four modules on topics such as project management, data management, digital tools and new technologies.
ABC Digital SupportsGoogle ImpactChallenge: Technology for the socialgood, which aims to support projects to build a “more resilient Europe”.
The training is free of charge and will take place between 18 September and 6 December 2023. At present, any interested person, regardless of gender or place of residence, can contact digitalabc.org.
