Established in June 2016, the European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO) is a self-financed not-for-profit organisation under the Belgian legal framework. ECSO is responsible for the implementation of the Cybersecurity Public-Private Partnership, in collaboration with the European Commission.

ECSO’s mission is to organise and contribute to the development of a European Cybersecurity Ecosystem by enabling businesses, universities and public and private entities to fully benefit from the digital transformation. In this way, ECSO also supports security and safety of the EU Digital Single Market and ensures Europe’s global leadership and competitiveness in digital.

ECSO represents and coordinates a wide range of public and private stakeholders, including: larger corporations, small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), start-ups and essential service operators, associations, companies, research centres, academia, and clusters. In addition, the organisation provides the same services for regional and national public institutions and administrations throughout the European member states, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and H2020 Programme associated countries.
