On 1 June 2022, the European Commission launched the New Ukrainian School (NUS) Hub. The new hub has the objective to facilitate access to educational resources to support Ukrainian refugees and displaced learners still in Ukraine.
The initiative was officially announced by the Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel, and it aims to act as a free, hub of information, resources, and knowledge for Ukrainian refugees no matter where they are.
The NUS Hub provides access to supplementary European and Ukrainian EdTech solutions (mainly opened free of charge for Ukrainians) and Ukrainian online learning platforms. Additionally, the NUS Hub provides direct access to relevant country-specific or local education access information.
A unique gateway for learning and knowledge
The hub’s purpose is to guarantee that learners, families, educators, and local supporters can rapidly access tools that work for them, no matter where their journey takes them in the following weeks and months.
At the day of the launch, the Catalogue already contains around 200 EdTech solutions and further resources will be uploaded in the following weeks. Any EdTech company with an offering for Ukrainians can express interest to be featured.
The initiative is co-funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and the DG NEAR of the Commission. It builds on an existing project called ‘Learning Together’ with the contribution and active engagement of the European EdTech Alliance.
