On behalf of the Government of Cyprus, I extend a warm welcome to the Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), HE Ms Deemah AlYahya, and her delegation to Cyprus.

This visit is testament to the strong bonds and shared vision between our country and the DCO and signifies a milestone in our common efforts to enhance digital innovation to the benefit of our economies and societies.

In today’s rapidly evolving world, digital technologies have become the cornerstone of sustainable growth, social progress and well-being. As we navigate the complexities of the digital era, it is essential that we build and strengthen partnerships that can drive forward our mutual goals for fostering resilience, security and inclusivity in the digital realm; and this is what the DCO stands for.

As a Government which is strongly committed to advancing our digital landscape, which places Digital Policy and Digital Transition as a top priority of our Governmental agenda, we are eager to engage in meaningful discussions that will pave the way for stronger collaborative efforts in the region and beyond.

Cyprus has already made significant strides in developing a robust digital economy, with a strong research and innovation ecosystem. It is fast developing into a regional technology and innovation hub, catering to the needs of businesses and organizations looking for a reliable gateway to Europe and the region.

As the first European Union (EU) member state to join the DCO and capitalizing on our geostrategic location linking three continents, we aim to act as a bridge between nations, people and ideas, facilitating communication, collaboration and knowledge transfer to the benefit of all.

In this regard, we are particularly excited about the potential for joint initiatives that can drive digital transformation across the region and contribute to a more connected and technologically advanced global community.

We look forward to a productive visit, confident that it will lead to meaningful advancements and a deeper partnership between Cyprus and the DCO.

Your Excellency, welcome to Cyprus once again. Thank you.
