On 6 June, the Latvian Information and Communication Technology Association (LIKTA) hosted a visit of SEPAL (Supporting Employment Platform through Apprenticeship Learning) project from Romania, Greece, Spain, Poland and Lithuania to present digital skills development initiatives and the National Digital Coalition in Latvia.
During the meeting, LIKTA presented its efforts in developing digital skills in Latvia, including the Latvian Digital Skills and Jobs Platform. They also highlighted their experience working with young women who are not in employment, education, or training (NEET) through the WOMEN4IT project. The goal of the WOMEN4IT project is to enhance the digital competences and skills of young women who are at risk of exclusion from the labor market, with the aim of improving their employability and addressing the shortage of ICT specialists in the European labor market. As part of the presentation, LIKTA showcased various tools and resources, such as the Open Education Resource Database, which offers more than 300 open-access educational materials for ICT learning. In return, the SEPAL project shared its experiences and presented the activities conducted under the Youth Employment Programme of the EEA and Norway Grants funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. The objective of the SEPAL project is to enhance the integration of young people aged 24-29 into the labor market. As part of their efforts, they established a profiling platform and provided recommendations for organizations working with young individuals who face challenges in entering the labor market.
