The aim of the research is to provide a summary of how knowledge about ICT professions and related labour market needs can be increased in relation to project GINOP 3.1.1 – VEKOP-15-2016-0001 – Promoting and supporting cooperation between educational institutions and ICT enterprises. In the framework of the project, all affected areas were surveyed:
- Demand side for businesses
- Supply side by professionals
- Emissions side from training institutions
- Expectations related to emissions from companies and students
The aim of the data monitoring and trend analysis is to get to know the market area for ICT specialists in detail, also by territorial breakdown. It is also crucial to know what kind of qualifications and skills are needed in the Hungarian ICT labour market. The main reason for the survey is that the labour market is undergoing a dynamic change which, on the one hand, due to its speed and, on the other hand, due to the fact that it extends beyond traditional ICT fields, official statistics are not able to capture and provide decision-makers with up-to-date and relevant information. The survey has made it possible to identify which positions in ICT are most affected by the general shortage of staff in the field and the expectations of employers towards jobseekers in these positions, for example to identify the types of training that need to be promoted in order to reduce the shortage of staff in ICT as effectively as possible.
During the research, the following questions were touched upon:
- Trend analysis of available and public ICT job advertisements
- what kind of IT competences, what kind of qualifications and language skills are needed in each geographical area and in what volume based on the advertisements posted
- the research also examined historical research on the topic and produces data suitable for time series comparison
- the research has adapted to the European Skills/Competences, Qualifications and Occupation (ESCO) classification system.
