On December 18, the Latvian Information and Communication Technology Association (LIKTA) organized an experience exchange seminar, where partners of the Latvian Digital Skills National Coalition looked back on their achievements in 2024 and shared their plans for 2025.
The seminar was opened by LIKTA Council Member and Latvian Digital Skills NC Coordinator Māra Jākobsone, highlighting the results of the work of the Latvian Digital Skills National Coalition in 2024 as well as the priorities and planned activities in the field of digital skills for the coming year.
Digital skills community partners shared their experiences and plans for 2025 in the following areas:
- “Adult education – why do we learn throughout life?”, Signe Briķe, Head of the Project Implementation Department of the Ministry of Education and Science.
- “Current trends in employment”, Evita Simsone, Director of the State Employment Agency.
- “Digital waste – how can we not increase it?”, Vineta Sprugaine, Head of Corporate Communications at the Latvian State Radio and Television Centre.
- “Cybersecurity in Latvia: threats, challenges and strengthening resilience”, Dana Ludviga, Information Systems Security Analyst at CERT.LV.
- “Future digital skills – what do employers expect?”, Īrisa Zvagule, LIKTA Education Working Group Expert and FITA company manager.
- “Digital Competence Framework for Public Administration Employees”, Kristīne Aleksejeva, Latvian School of Public Administration Curriculum Development Manager.
- “Experience AI Education Program in Schools”, Maija Katkovska. Head of the Latvian Safer Internet Center.
- Teachers’ Conference “Ideas Day” in March 2025, Linda Sinka, Riga Business School PreUniversity Program Manager.
- “CISC Activities in 2025”, Līga Indriksone, Cultural Information Systems Centre Information Technology Project Manager.
In conclusion, LIKTA project expert Andra Krasavina informed about the activities of the Code4Europe Project in Latvia and about the wide opportunities for the partners to be actively involved in the promotion of digital education in Latvia.
Support for teachers at different levels of education to increase their educational capacity:
- organize educational events in person and online;
- develop innovative, work-based teaching and learning methods;
- organize meetings with universities and ICT companies;
- support for children and young people to promote digital careers;
- participate in the organization of competitions, hackathons and other types of practical events;
- share best practices and digital skills learning resources;
- organize career events, especially inviting girls and young women.
The seminar was attended by representatives of local government and state institutions, educational institutions, companies, non-governmental organizations and regional training centers.
