The European Institute for Gender Equality is organizing its second Gender Equality Forum in Brussels on 10 -11 December. This year’s Forum comes at an important time, with a new European Parliament starting its term and a new European Commission preparing to take office. It offers a chance to discuss the future of gender equality in Europe up to 2030.

About the forum

The event will bring together experts, young leaders, practitioners, and decision-makers from EU institutions, governments, civil society, academia, business, media, and the arts. Building on the success of the first Forum in 2022, this year’s edition highlights youth involvement and calls for action to achieve equality every day. The event will feature various panel discussions, workshops, and inspirational talks. Discussions will focus on two key thematic strands:

  • Taking stock of gender equality in Europe now and beyond 2025: this strand will be informed by the results of the Gender Equality Index 2024, which will be released during the Forum followed by discussions with participants.

  • Tackling gender-based violence in the EU: persisting and emerging challenges and how can we address them?
