The report highlights the outcomes of the Good Practice Webinar, which addressed the digital skills gap in rural communities through EU initiatives and collaborative projects, hosted online by the Rural Pact Support Office in 2023. The event gathered experts, policy-makers, and practitioners and aimed to support knowledge exchange and collaboration to drive rural digital transformation. During the webinar, successful projects addressing the digital skills gap were showcased, including initiatives supporting seniors, rural adults, and remote schools.

The report highlights the importance of digital connectivity, inclusive local training programmes, and simplified communication to reach and engage diverse demographics in rural areas.

Main recommendations of the report include promoting community-based cost-sharing models, demonstrating the practical benefits of digitalization, and securing targeted support from public and private service providers. The report calls for joint actions across government departments and the establishment of governance structures that promote collaboration and long-term impact to sustain rural digital transitions and ensure inclusive participation.
