The IVSZ – Association of Digital Enterprises, together with Eötvös Loránd University and Precognox Informatikai Kft., organises a webinar on the possible uses of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI) in the course of teaching hours just before school starts.

Generative AI is a technology that can create new and original content from a variety of sources, such as text, image, sound, or video. Generative AI is usually based on deep learning models, such as neural networks, which learn from vast amounts of data to create new, previously non-existent content. Such systems can, for example, write texts, paint pictures, compose music, or even generate synthetic speech. Such technologies are becoming increasingly important not only in the creative industries, but also in business, education and research, as they are able to automate and accelerate content production processes while opening up new opportunities for creative and innovative solutions.

There are many opportunities for education to use generative AI, not only for teachers but also for students, but everyone has yet to learn how to use it correctly. We have already written about the fact that Generating AI courses were launched at Neumann János University in the spring, but in fact ELTE started such courses just a year ago.

At the Generative AI in Education webinar, organised on 29 August 2024 between 3-5 p.m., Dr. Márta Turcsányi-Szabó, habilitated associate professor, Dean of Educational Innovation, Eötvös Loránd University, will give a presentation on “The Changing Learning Requirements and Opportunities of a Changing World”. In his presentation, he points out that today’s accelerated industrial development requires the emergence of a “smart society” that prepares its citizens through “active learning” by exploiting the advances of technology. We show what initiatives and opportunities the Faculty of Informatics of Eötvös Loránd University has created in the field of AI (artificial intelligence) education for the university and public education, as well as what opportunities the large language models offer students, teachers and curriculum developers to facilitate learning.

Dániel Stirling, AI expert responsible for the development of the Precognox digital strategy, will then give a presentation entitled ‘Practical examples in education’. In your presentation, you will focus on three to four practical use cases that teachers can easily incorporate into their daily work:

  1. Logotherapy at work: It shows how generative AI can be used in speech therapy. For example, how to create personalized practice materials that are specifically tailored to the individual needs of students.
  2. Preparation of students: He talks about how generative AI can help students prepare for exams. It provides examples of how to create personalized practice exercises, prepare simulated exams, or create interactive learning paths.
  3. Personalization of watch materials: At this point, you’ll talk about how teachers can use AI to customize lesson materials quickly and effectively. It shows how to create tasks of varying difficulty for students at different levels or to create learning materials tailored to their interests.
  4. Developing interactive learning platforms: This is an outlook on how AI can help teachers develop new interactive learning platforms. These platforms provide real-time feedback on student performance and adapt the learning process to individual needs.

This will be followed by the Untold Stories block, where you will be presented with typical bugs that may occur when using AI, and practical advice on how to avoid these pitfalls. For example, not overburdening students with too much new technology, or not relying too much on AI in the educational process.

In the closing block of the webinar, teachers will learn about opportunities to improve their digital skills and take their students to an AI-related programme organised by ELTE.

All interested parties are invited by the organizers. Participation in the webinar is free, but registration is required.
