A pilot program aimed at the digital education and empowerment of adults and people with disabilities, with a total budget of € 5.7 million, is established by the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family with a relevant amendment, included in the bill of the Ministry of Health “Completion of psychiatric reform”, which as of today, is a law of the State.
As foreseen in the amendment, this programme concerns 3,600 persons, over 65 years of age and 2,800 Persons with Disabilities with a disability rate of more than 50%. The aim of the program is the implementation of programs to familiarize the above population groups with new technologies, mainly regarding digital information, communication through digital applications, making electronic payments, the use of digital applications of the Gov.gr platform as well as the use of online social media.
Digital education will take place in approximately 200 Digital Empowerment Hubs and 80 Disabled Hubs, which will be piloted in selected municipalities in the country and in appropriate structures by qualified educational staff.
The expenditure for the financing of the programme, amounting to EUR 5.7 million, comes from resources of the Recovery and Resilience Fund and the implementing bodies are the National Infrastructures, Technology and Research Network (EDYTE) and the Institute of the National Confederation of People with Disabilities and Chronic Disabilities (IN-ESAMEA).
