The Government of the Republic of Slovenia (Vlada Republike Slovenije) exercises executive authority in Slovenia pursuant to the Constitution and the laws of Slovenia. It is also the highest administrative authority in Slovenia.
It implements Acts and other regulations adopted by the National Assembly and is responsible for the functioning of the state administration. As the state administration’s highest body, the Government issues regulations and adopts legal, political, economic, financial, organisational and other measures required for the development of the State and for providing good conditions in all areas within its competence. It is composed of the Prime Minister and other ministers. Since May 1990 the Republic of Slovenia has had 13 democratically elected coalition governments.
The 14th Government of the Republic of Slovenia, led by Janez Janša, was appointed by the National Assembly on 13 March 2020.
