Located in Switzerland, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), or EPFL is a vibrant and cosmopolitan science and technology institution, which has a strong focus on engineering and natural science subjects. EPFL is part of a network of stakeholders and partners, such as other universities and higher education institutions, secondary schools, public institutions, private organisations and various industry stakeholders and policymakers. Bringing together key partners, the Swiss institute aims to promote innovation in education, teaching and research and enhance the positive impact of their initiatives on society.
EPFL has 5 schools and 3 colleges, which span across technical subject fields and provide a variety of training and education programmes on specialised emerging technologies relevant to the natural sciences and engineering fields. The schools specialise in the following disciplines:
- School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ENAC).
- School of Computer and Communication Sciences (IC).
- School of Basic Sciences (SB).
- School of Engineering (STI).
- School of Life Sciences (SV).
The centre also aims to promote and support technology transfer and launches interdisciplinary projects to establish links between different technology fields. It also launches activities related to open access to technology, providing an opportunity for researchers, laboratory and industry collaborators to use existing digital and high-performance computing infrastructure and benefit from the centre’s services.
