One of the oldest universities in the world, Charles University was founded in 1348. Strongly focused on its research offering, Charles University has a number of outstanding research teams working with international research institutions. As a result of this strong research focus, Charles University is the leading research institution in the Czech Republic and has participated in the CERN research project amongst others.
Charles University has nearly 50 000 students, over 7 900 employees of which more than 4 500 are academic and research staff. Alongside this, the University offers over 300 accredited degree programmes and over 630 different courses.
