The Senate Department for Integration, Labour and Social Affairs is responsible for a wide range of topics – from A for work to Z for grants for social projects.
In particular, the Senate is responsible for projects in migration, exclusion and integration.
The main task of the Commissioner of the Senate for Integration and Migration is to help shape the migration and integration policy of the Senate of Berlin and to coordinate it with other administrations in the State of Berlin.
Further main areas of work are:
- Cooperation with and support of migrant organisations
- Intercultural opening of the administration
- Advice on immigration and integration law as well as social issues
- Information and advice at the Welcome Centre Berlin for all new immigrants on topics relating to their arrival and stay in Berlin
- Migration and refugee policy
- Human rights and ethnic minorities
- Fundamental questions of the social and societal integration of ethnic German repatriates
