The initiative Machine Learning for ICT professionals, funded via a grant by the Erasmus+ Programme, aims to support the development of key competences and machine learning knowledge for workers in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector, with a special focus on Vocational Education and Training (VET) forms. The initiative brings together 5 organisations and 6 associated partners, spanning across 5 countries: France, Germany, Greece, Italy, and Romania in a strategic partnership for exchange of good practices and knowledge sharing in vocational education and training forms.
With the increased adoption and uptake of machine learning technology within key industrial sectors like healthcare or financial services, demand for skilled professionals is growing throughout Europe, resulting in an occupational mismatch. Within this context, the initiative aims to contribute to the capacity of the vocational education and training (VET) forms of learning to support the development of key digital competences and machine learning knowledge for ICT employees. Other core aims and actions of the initiative include:
- The development of a new machine learning curricula, combining soft with technical skills
- The creation of flexible training delivery methods and open access, innovative resources on machine learning skills acquisition and development
- The development of Vocational Open Online Courses (VOOCs) in 6 European languages
Through these actions, the initiative aims to enhance the vocational education and training (VET) landscape and support the development of programmes and actions, targeting machine learning skills for workers in the ICT and related sectors.
