The FIT4FoF (Fit for the Factory of the Future) project is based on a human-centric approach to innovation and education in digital and emerging technologies, targeting workforce in the manufacturing sector.

The Factories of the Future initiative is public-private partnership (PPP), aimed at enhancing the uptake of key enabling technologies across a broad range of sectors, with a special focus on small and medium sized entreprises (SMEs). Within this context, the objective of the FIT4FoF initiative is to contribute to knowledge sharing and upskilling of workers in the manufacturing sector, and inform education and training frameworks so they reflect the changing nature of skills and jobs.

The FIT4FoF initiative addresses skills needs and analyses technology trends across 6 industrial areas: robotics, additive manufacturing, machine automation/mechatronics, data analytics, cybersecurity and human-machine interaction. FIT4FoF offers a wide range of upskilling programmes and actions throughout Europe via a dedicated Digital Upskilling Initiatives Catalogue, which compiles the initiatives launched within the project’s scope.

Information on good practices and approaches in upskilling the manufacturing workforce, together with guidance is also available, ensuring a comprehensive transfer of knowledge from one context to another. The articles, news and events sections of the initiative features many testimonials from throughout industry sectors, as well as tips and advice on fostering future proof skills.
