The European Innovation Council (EIC) supports researchers and innovators developing high-risk, breakthrough innovations with the potential to create new markets and boost jobs, growth and prosperity in Europe. The EIC is open to ideas in any field of innovation and it is possible to apply at any time of the year.

Three types of programmes are offered by the EIC:

  1. Pathfinder for researchers and technologists (radically new technologies emerging from collaborative research);
  2. Accelerator for startups, small companies, and entrepreneurs (development and scaling up of high-risk innovations);
  3. Transition for innovation activities that go beyond the experimental proof of principle in a laboratory.
